A Message to Caregivers
I learned in my formative years that it was unacceptable to be all of myself. The clothes I wanted to wear, the style of my hair, and the desire to dance instead of playing piano are examples of things that were overruled to suit someone else's idea of me. This also taught me that my spiritual gifts needed to remain hidden in order for me to feel loved and included. This loss of heart-centered living hurt deeply and it has taken many years to shed the layers of long held beliefs that I needed to be something other than who I was. This has been a journey of reconnecting with my heart and allowing myself to be all that God created me to be.
As an adult I knew that I needed to help parents and children know it is safe to trust, love and honor the myriad ways that we each are called to express ourselves. For when I feel close to God, I feel closest to myself and I want this for all children. Before my mother passed, she wrote to me “we are God, loving each other". She had healed something within her and was able to see that we are mirrors of this love in everything we say and do. And I feel on some level she understood how her choices had affected me. It is for this reason, that I have written the initial two in a planned series of three books for parents and children.
Today, I feel a sense of freedom that I could never have imagined, all because I choose to believe that I am all that God says I am. I have found that everything from my smile and laughter, to my unique perspective on life, and my spiritual gifts that I once hid out of fear, all work synergistically to inspire others to listen to their hearts too. To believe, to have hope, to know that they aren't alone and that it is safe to be all of themselves. And I have faith that more and more people will remember that we are divinely created beings made in the image and similitude of Love.
My personal hope is that this book can become a part of the 'Oneness' conversation and a tool to help teachers and parents steward the ambassadors of our future in an integrated, holistic, mind-body-spirit approach to how we do this thing called 'life' together.
Blessings and peace be with you,
